The mission of Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza is to preserve and honor the legacy of our fallen Nevadan Service Members since 1864.

It is our responsibility to acknowledge the sacrifice and accomplishments of those who gave a part of their youth, or the entirety of their lives for these great States. It is our civic duty to remember the past and inspire the future. Our mission is to acknowledge and remember the Veterans of Nevada by building a plaza at the beautiful Sparks Marina.
The Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza is a beautiful state-wide memorial created to honor all veterans, especially those soldiers from Nevada that sacrificed their lives so that we could remain a free and sovereign nation. Our founder, the late Mayor Ron E. Smith, was passionate about our country, our freedom, and all our soldiers and veterans, which is why he started this amazing project. The memorial wall contains the names of almost 900 men and women that called Nevada home and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Since 2014, we have been raising money, from generous organizations and individuals, to build a Plaza at the Sparks Marina. We believe that it is our responsibility to build a Plaza to honor our Veterans, who allowed us the freedoms and rights we enjoy today, and to have a place to commemorate the brave actions of future generations of servicemen and women. The Plaza will allow everyone to walk among the names of the 896 fallen Nevadan Veterans, provide a place for teachers and parents to explain the history and sacrifice of  Service Members, and a destination of Veteran organizations to hold meetings.
When completed fully, the NVMP will have the names of our fallen Nevadans and the Ron E. Smith Educational Path, named in loving memory of our dear friend and Co-Founder. The educational path will display Nevada’s history and involvement throughout the years regarding our country's freedom.  It is a place for Veterans and Educational Groups to gather and hold various events, a place for families to teach their children, a hallowed ground for those who lost loved ones, a platform to learn, teach, and storytell, and a staple in our community for those traveling through to stop and appreciate or freedoms.
It is through the amazing people of the city of Sparks and the many others that have donated and supported the memorial that this Plaza is possible. As you learn about the Plaza, and the people who are working hard to build it, please consider donating to, or volunteering for our project. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization, and only through the generosity of our community can we complete the Plaza.
We will be adding the Ron E. Smith Educational Pathway with kiosks or learning stations which include suicide awareness, POW/MIA, each of the past wars and more. We not only want to honor those who served but also educate those who will serve. These kiosks can be sponsored. If you are interested in more information, please let us know.
